it's my first day back to school.

it was a rather short three weeks off, but it was kinda good...a bit of relaxation, a bit of soul-searching, a bit of excitement, a bit of happiness.

now it's back to the daily toil that is college.

i'm quite fine with it though...after the stress that came about from my first semester in my journalism program, i'm actually a little bit more prepared now with what may come from these next 3 or so months.

work is gonna be tough, and dreadful, and hectic...but at least i'm coming back to familiar surroundings...it was fun to see all of the j-crew (that's my friends from the program), the instructors, the rest of the faculty...it was like a reunion of sorts.

but what was really cool today was a great challenge one of my instructors gave to me.

it was close to the end of the class, and suddenly my journalism instructor mark hamilton gave us all a challenge.

write SOMETHING every day.

now, mind you, this is something i'm doing right now...in school especially, considering i'm studying to become a writer for a weekly or a magazine.

but mark gave a great point...he said that as journalists, we should walk with our eyes open.

i've had a dry spell in terms of updating my blog lately...it seems that i can't find anything meaningful to write about...it's either about me bitching about my life, or some mindless drivel that seemed to have escaped my brain.

but as a writer, my job is to make the mundane and ordinary LOOK extraordinary.

i have to bring a certain perspective about the world that i live in...and perhaps that perspective can be shared by one or two...or even more...people.

that's what i've been missing in my entries...i've been desperately looking for interesting things to pop up in my life...but maybe if i open my eyes wide enough, i can see and describe and impart what my world is really about.

thus, i've decided to take on the challenge.

i'm going to try to update this blog AT LEAST thrice a week.

i don't want to miss a single moment of this year anymore.

and i'm going to start it...today.

all will be documented...right here.

this is gonna be fun.
